Frequently Asked Questions
-
We handle the full range of residential and commercial tree care in Greater Nashville: tree removal, trimming and pruning, stump grinding, tree health care, cabling and bracing, lot and brush clearing, storm and emergency response, and ISA Certified risk assessments.
-
Yes. Every estimate is free and no-obligation. Aaron, our ISA Certified Arborist, assesses your trees, explains your options in plain language, and gives honest, upfront pricing, usually with a same-day response.
-
Absolutely. Valor is fully licensed and insured for your protection and ours, and we're happy to provide proof of insurance before any work begins.
-
Warning signs include large dead limbs, a leaning trunk, fungus at the base, deep cracks, or roots lifting near your home. Not every troubled tree needs removal, our arborist will tell you honestly whether it can be saved or should come down.
-
Always. Full cleanup is included in every job. We haul away debris, rake the area, and leave your property as tidy as we found it, often tidier. Wood and chips can be left on-site on request.
-
For most jobs we can schedule within a few days, and we offer same-day responses on estimates. For storm damage and hazardous trees, we prioritize emergency response, call us and we'll get to you as fast as safely possible during our hours (every day, 6am–6pm).
-
Yes. Storm damage doesn't wait, and neither do we. We respond quickly to fallen limbs, split trunks, and trees on structures across Greater Nashville, remove hazards safely, and document the work for your insurance.
-
No. We prune to ANSI A300 industry standards using proper cuts that protect the tree's health and structure. Correct pruning improves clearance, safety, and long-term health, done wrong it harms a tree, which is exactly why certification matters.
-
Pricing depends on the size, location, and condition of the tree and the work involved. We give clear, upfront estimates with no surprises. Tree health assessments start at $75, credited toward the work if you proceed.
-
You get a veteran-owned company and an ISA Certified Arborist on every job, not a subcontracted crew. We're licensed, insured, honest about what your trees actually need, and we treat your property like our own. That's the Valor difference.

Item deFor most single-family and duplex residential properties in Nashville, removing a tree doesn't require a permit, though a few exceptions apply, for example if the tree is registered as a historic or specimen tree, or the property sits in a Conservation Overlay Zone. Trees in the public right-of-way need approval from Metro's Urban Forestry division first, and commercial, multi-family, or development sites generally require a permit as well. If a tree is storm-damaged and poses an immediate danger, removal can happen right away, we simply document it and notify the city afterward. We'll always confirm what applies to your specific property before we start work.scription
